IBPS PO-2 How to fill up your order of preference for banks

Institute of Banking Personnel (IBPS) PO/MT-2 result has been finally declared. The result declared is out of 100 marks that contain your total marks (IBPS CWE marks +Interview marks). If you have not seen your result status, click here to see it.  We got so many requests from candidates on how to fill up your order of preference for banks in the registration process that is going to start from 20 Feb 2013.  After so many requests from you, today we are going to discuss how seats will be allocated to candidates in the respective banks.
Note one important thing it is not your order of preference that will affect your selection in any bank, your final weight age marks out of a 100 marks will decide your selection. It means you can fill the order of preference of banks in any order without any worry. If you got higher marks you can be selected in your 1st or 2nd preference. For example topper will get his first preference.
Now the question is how the seats will be allocated to candidates: the 21 banks have already declared vacancies. There are a total of 22415 vacancies out of which 11058 are for General category and rest are for reserved category. From 20 Feb onwards candidates have to register their order of preference. Let us say there are 100 successful candidates and there are 42 seats in 21 banks (each bank contains 2 seats).

Now candidate A securing 70 marks fills his preference in the following way:

Order of Preference
Name of Bank/Bank code
1
Bank of Baroda
2
Punjab National Bank
3
Canara Bank
4
Central Bank of India
5
Corporation Bank
6
Dena Bank
7
Allahabad Bank
8
Andhra Bank
9
Bank of India
10
Bank of Maharashtra
11
IDBI Bank
12
Indian Bank
13
Oriental Bank of Commerce
14
Punjab & Sind Bank
15
Indian Overseas Bank
16
Syndicate Bank
17
UCO Bank
18
United Bank of India
19
Union Bank of India
20
Vijaya Bank
21
ECGC

Now IBPS will see the ranking of candidates (that is not disclosed on IBPS website). The candidate securing highest marks will be given his first preference and seat will be allocated to him. After that 2nd highest marks gainer will be allotted his seat. And subsequently rest of people. If seat is not available in your 1st preference of bank, then your 2nd preference is checked, if seat is available the seat is allocated to you and if it is not available your 3rd preference is checked and the process goes on until you got a seat or all seats are already filled.

After filling of all seats candidates will be offered their appointment letters via email. If any candidates do not accept that job that job position is blanked. IBPS will also declare their 2nd list of allocation of seat. If you are not selected in 1st list you can be in the next list. But one thing is clear candidates securing higher marks will definitely be selected. All the Best.
